Can I get a letter from you telling someone that I’m a loyal customer?

I’ve been using Bank of America since before it was even Bank of America. I opened my account when I was in second grade (age 7). Originally the bank was called Maryland National Bank. It then merged with Nations Bank, and eventually Bank of America. 18 years later I needed to get a letter from them stating that I had 16 accounts in good standing. They charged me $10…per account.

  1. So apparently Bank of America was unable to generate a letter for one of my accounts. My local branch rep gave me a telephone number to call and a case number associated with the issue. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with Bank of America. I was transferred to five different individuals. On the second transfer, I was told that I called the wrong number and that I was being transferred to a different number. After 45 minutes, the last representative told me that he was unable to help me and that I had to go back to my local branch.

  2. Two years later and the time comes again to request this letter. Sure enough, they charged me again – $10 per account. By this time, I was down to only ten Bank of America accounts. I’ve closed the rest of them off.

  3. I went back into the banking center today to fix the remainder of the addresses. An hour of my life later, everything was fixed.

I also changed the legal business name for one of my businesses because no one could spell it correctly and e-mails weren’t getting to me properly. The rep at the banking center told me that I couldn’t change the name on the account, but rather, I would need to close out my account and open a new one. Reluctantly, I agreed, because I know this will lead to more fees.

  4. Sneaky sneaky Bank of America – They double charged me for one of the letters, hoping I wouldn’t notice. I got the fee refunded, but never got the 30 minutes of my life back.
